Superman Returns IMAX 3-D

OK, I saw it. I saw it. All of the e-mails - "Ryan Charisma, what did you think of the new Superman movie?" Finally, I've seen it. Yes, I can now honestly relate to you, my dear, sweet, little do-pee-toos the magic that is Superman. I liked it. I did. You ask me "Ryan Charisma, didn't you say that Brandon Routh was too young and not manly enough?" I did say that, and I can't believe the Enquirer actually quoted me. Regardless, I forgave Brandon being so young and quite honestly I found it didn't really matter. Brand is the first movie Superman who looks like a man. And by that, I mean you can see his "boy bumps", or bulge (to be vulgar). Superman is hot, with great hair. I couldn't really tell what product the stylist was using to create that "Superman curl".
Mr. Adam & I had decided to see this film on the IMAX screen, and certain scenes were in 3-D. I really enjoyed it. The 3-D part was fun, but not necessary to enjoy this film. As far as the story goes, well, you know it. Superman good, Lex Luthor bad. Lex Luthor figures out a bad thing to do; Superman saves the day. Predictable. But some of the supporting cast is great, Kevin Spacey & Parker Posey to be more specific. Although the movie is 3 hours long, I didn't feel bored. I enjoyed it and didn't think I would. Oh, but I must be honest and tell you about Lois Lane played by Kate Bosworth. Boring, fickle and useless. There I said it. Now honestly, I think James Marsden, who plays Lois' husband, is gorgeous. I'm not talking goodlooking, or handsome - he's breathtakingly beautiful. To see this man, is worth the price of the ticket. There, I said that too. But it had to be said. Now if only Superman loved "the husband" instead of Lois Lane. Maybe then we'd have the right to marry?

Deception Point

I've now officially finished reading all of Dan Brown's books. Well, that he's written so far. I really enjoyed this read. Deception Point is great fast paced story. I'm amazed at the amount of research Mr. Brown does for his books. I don't really know how long it takes for him to write a book. But I imagine it takes years. This specific story revolved around NASA, a meteorite and the Presidential race. Just like Brown's 3 other books, he moves his story at a fast pace. I found myself trying to sneak in chapters just to find out what happens next. I do, however, feel that the actual ending was a little predictable; unlike his other books. I really enjoy Brown's writing, and the fact that his books are enormous. I feel like I'm getting a quality story. If you're an avid reader, you'll enjoy this thriller. Now I know more about meteorites than I'll ever need to know. What's next Dan Brown? What's next?

Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest

Well, my little sexies, Mr. Adam took me to see this last Saturday night. First of all, I adored the first "Pirates" movie. It was great. So I was excited about this film. Except for the awful reviews it got. Hesitantly, Mr. Adam & I went. Well, Johnny Depp was great....again. The story however, not as good. It was sort of like a Sci Fi channel show. I do want to warn all of you - this movie isn't a free-standing movie in and of itself. It has a second part. You know "Pirates 3" which was filmed when this one was. So next summer we'll know how it all ends. Maybe it will make this second one, which is full of great special effects, seem better. So bottom line... only see this in the theater if you're a fan of the movie or Depp. Otherwise, wait for DVD.

Original Bartholomew Design

Here is one of my birthday (June 18) gifts I recently received. An original Bartholomew design. My friend Jason, who has moved to Seattle, Washington to become a fashion designer, made this shirt for me. He designed it with me in mind. Which explains the orange and the star - both of which, I'm a big fan of. Now don't go bothering Jason to make you clothes. You're simply not important enough for him to design with you in mind. But it couldn't hurt for you to ask. Right? Well, what 'cha think?

Permission

Giovanni's Room

I've just finished reading this book (written in 1956) and I must tell you what a great book it is. First of all I guess I should tell you that this is not a love story. If anything I would call it an "opposite of love" story. You may ask "What do you mean by that Ryan Charisma?" Well, without giving away too much of the story line, because I do want everyone to read this book; it's about a young man (27ish) and his constant internal fight with his homosexuality. And the way his feelings about himself ruin not only his life, but everyone he cares about as well. It's a sad, tragic story that is very well written by James Baldwin. Baldwin gives his characters flesh and feelings. I truly believed these people could exist. Well, in the time that the story takes place. For twenty-somethings in modern times to have any sort of deep thought isn't believable. Why is this? Why don't today's young men have deep, serious and educated thoughts? I question, did Baldwin give these characters intelligence? Was that the norm back in the 1950's? But back to the story. Baldwin, writes the thought process of his main character on the page and, as a gay man, I understand exactly what Baldwin was saying. The symbolism used in this book as well the setting (Giovanni's Room & Paris) are used to push the story forward and make the reader think. I couldn't get past the horrible tragedy of a life not lived. Or rather, lives not lived. I could go on and on about this book, but I urge everyone to simply read it. It's a very easy, short book to read. And it's so sad. It makes me even more thankful I have Mr. Adam. I love you Mr. Adam!

Happy 4th of July!
